I enjoyed this book a great deal. It was a pleasure to skip through the pages and get to know missy carmichael. She is of course a complicated character, she’s feisty, prickly and an old hand at pushing people away and turning her back on support and proffered friendship. That is until a small canine companion comes into her life and slowly things start to change for her and gradually she finds herself adapting, becoming less prickly and more accepting. There are some wonderful themes running throughout this novel, particularly that of friendship and how letting someone in can alter the course of your life and change so many factors. This is a particularly well written and thought out book and one I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to people. I thoroughly enjoyed my time getting to know missy and the history that made her the person we meet.
