Cassey Howells is off backpacking with her boyfriend around New Zealand. When discovering she's pregnant with his child they break up and she hitches a lift to a place called Rotura with a group of warm and welcoming people. And before she knows it, she's firmly ensconced in a remote community, led by the spiritual and seductive Justin. Meanwhile her family back home are desperate to know what's become of her.
What a fantastic book. Gripping, nerve wracking and also frustrating - I wanted to scream at Cassey to get the hell out of there! My only (very slight) criticism was that I kept getting confused with all the characters. They were renamed within the community as cities and places in the world (Cairo, Aden etc) so at times it was hard to tell who was male or female and remember them all as there seemed to be so many.
