So Kellen's adventures continue, right where we left off.

Exploring more of the world, we comes to the desert where it seems we discover more of the shadow black, more of Kellen's mentor's past with an new argosi to contrast Ferius Fairfax, Rosie and some new Characters, Dexan and Seneira.

Another self contained story, it takes a darker path but keeps the jokes and twists, the interactions and fun narrations of Kellen who is trying his best and not having things really go to plan.

The book starts off with a fight just like the first but now has his straightforward squirrel cat Reichis and the more mysterious Ferius. As the plot develops onto a mystery we learn a little more of the world's besides Kellen's Jan'Tep territories, a little more of the Argosi and keeps the pace as we do so.

A fitting sequel which keeps what made spell slinger good but a change of scenery and mood to give a different story.

Also some lgbt representation in there.
