This is a very well written autobiography. The author tells his story in very simple fast paced paragraphs, which suited me fine. There's no fluffing, it's straight to the point. We are drawn straight in from the beginning and then we're given an account of the history. The extract deals with the author when he's very young and even though it's clearly written from an adults perspective, at times it's cleverly written as if it was from the child's point of view, he uses terms like 'naughty' and 'I was his boy' and it sounds as if he remembers it exactly as it was. He recounts sexual abuse in a very quick factual manner. He doesn't focus on the abuse itself, instead it appears like he focuses on how the abuse affected and changed him. It seems like we'll hear more about how his personality changed and how this affects his future choices. If you're interested in this kind of thing, reformed criminals telling their stories, then this book would be a very interesting read. Whilst this extract was interesting it just wasn't gripping enough for me to learn about someone I'm not interested in. I don't know who he is. I'm not at all interested in British gangsters. The cover seems suitable for the genre but again not interesting to me.
