I really enjoyed this, Michael writes in such a frank and honest way, I felt compelled to keep reading. It is a huge insight into a world which is often hidden and secret while also giving explanation (but not excuse) for the path Michael walked prior to going to prison due to his upbringing and the traumas which he faced through his childhood and into his adulthood.

I wasn't sure how much I would enjoy it due to the book being heavily around religion and how religion changed his life, but after reading it I can see that it was a very personal thing and gives insight into how a belief system and support that comes from that (whether religious or otherwise) can be life changing and perhaps therapeutic.

The book really highlights the impact a parent has on their childs whole future, but also that despite this it is possible for people to change their destiny with the right support and the goodwill to want to.
