Had so much more to give

I find this review really difficult to write - I did enjoy the book and found it so interesting, but I think that is possible where my problem lay, I found it interesting, but rushed!

There were some real big topics touched on throughout the book, but nothing seemed to have any depth. Emmett was abused as a child by his baby sitter - this clearly had an effect on him - but we are only briefly told about what happened. It happened a lot, but he never really tells us much about it, just that it happened. Perhaps it was too difficult to write about? Who knows.

I felt like a lot of the book concentrated on his childhood and the time in prison seemed to be glossed over. Four and a half years in prison is covered in such a short amount of pages. The book itself is not overly long so I suppose this could be why I felt this part was really sped through.

I applaud anyone who can turn themselves around and therefore loved the book from that respect, that this individual found the thing that could make him see more clearly and that for him was is faith, I just think that Emmett has so much more that he could have given to us.

I did come away from reading the book however thinking that crime pays - trips to Harrods, lucury holidays, big houses and flash cars all bought by drug trafficking... think I am in the wrong job.
