This book tells the life story of Michael Emmett. From growing up in the East End, to prison and out again it is a real roller-coaster ride. He seems to be surrounded by many loyal friends and family who he has put to the test many times over. But when all is said and done we can blame nobody but ourselves for the path our lives take.
I feel it is slightly bolted together, jumping from one situation to another, in a sometimes seemly unconnected way.
That said, the way it is written makes it a compelling and easy read. It is peppered with famous people, which I found interesting.
I think it illustrates well how we all have free will and therefore the capacity to choose the right or wrong path, many times during our lives.
It is easy to judge others and I feel it was very brave of Mr Emmett to lay his life open for criticism. I hope he finds the peace of mind he craves.
