This really was laborious for me to read, I wish it hadn’t have been, but you could basically work out what was happening before it happened. I found it boring I have to admit, while what this woman has gone through is clearly awful, the writing of the story just wasn’t interesting at all. I feel as though the story could definitely have been made better purely just to make it more readable. The book takes you through Carolyn (the authors) journey after having been scammed out of her money by a conman named Mark. While it is a true story some parts were just purely unbelievable which made me feel sympathetic but also critical of Carolyn and I’m not sure whether it was intended for both of these emotions to be felt or not. There was a strong emphasis on the lack of work done by the police, and I felt as though this dragged on somewhat in the book, maybe this was done to emphasise the drag it had gone on for in real life? But it really just left me forcing myself to get to the end of the book despite the fact I was finding it boring. I don’t necessarily feel that all this information should have been complied into a book as it did drag and most of it appears to be available elsewhere online. Overall I probably wouldn’t recommend reading it because it didn’t have me gripped at all which I was expecting from the cover and blurb to be honest.
