Firstly, when I received this book I had no idea it was a true story and very much thought it was a fictional thriller. How wrong I was!
I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down. It was so intriguing to me to hear the horrific crimes of Mark Acklom and the devastating affect it had on all aspects of Carolyn’s life from relationships with her friends and family, financial loss and the severe impact it has had on her mental health.
I was interested to hear all of the stories, lies and coverups and question how she ever believed them but I have been helplessly in love before and as a very trusting person, can understand how this happened.
I am so happy Carolyn got some justice and has been able to write this book and tell her story. No one should ever judge her for decisions she has made in the past and I have found myself getting on my feminist defence throughout this whole book at the shame and embarrassment she would have received as a result of telling her story.
