I found this an interesting read, although there was a part of me that found it slightly uncomfortable reading, as Carolyn's life unravelled as her relationship progressed.
This is the true story of a woman who fell in love with and was duped by a con man. And how once she realised he was dodgy, her fight to bring him to justice, not always helped by the system in this country. It showed how easily people can be tricked when they want to believe something, and also how difficult it can be to prove that you have been the victim.of a crime. This was the part which shocked me the most.
In places this felt like I was reading a novel, and in others particularly the parts after they split up, it felt more like a true crime report. At times this difference felt a little jarring, but overall it was an enjoyable enough read.
Thanks to Reader's First for sending me a copy to read and review.
