I am thankful to Manilla Press for an advanced copy of this book.
I absolutely loved this book. It was a really easy read, so much so I didn't actually feel like I was reading. I couldn't put it down, the story totally drew me in and I loved the journey the main character, Debbie took us on.
I will admit I don't think this book will be for everyone, it is a character-driven story, not very reliant on plot. But I related a lot to Debbie and her struggles with her first steps into adulthood, so I was totally enthralled. There were times, especially at the start of the book where I felt the writer was inside my head. Like parts of the story was taken directly from my life. It was nice to feel seen.
The writing style was right up my street, it wasn't overly complicated but descriptive enough to bring you along with the story. And it was a totally different style to a lot of books I have read recently. Lastly, I want to say well done to Louise Nealon on her debut novel. This was a really great read about a girls journey into adulthood, her life and her family.
