Absolutely taken with this book! Petra recounts the events of the last day with her maid Nisha and tries to ascertain if certain events that occurred bear any relation to her sudden absence. Petra is aware that her relationship with her daughter is broken and her only link to her - Nisha - is missing.
Yiannis' viewpoint is also revealed, he clearly has strong feelings for Nisha, yet there is the hint of suspense to suggest that all is not what it appears to be.
Beautifully written intertwined with current events of life in a partitioned island and the wider story of migration of people across the meditarranean sea.
This novel is well crafted and one that makes you think of the fates of those less fortunate than ours and how some decisions must be made. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and it was a beautiful summer read - a guilty pleasure. Thoroughly recommended.
