Each interaction with The Duel gets progressively odder and what was initially suspenseful becomes a little bit bland by the time we get to the ultimate Showdown. The end just felt very rushed somehow and it isn't given anywhere near as much space to develop as in the other storylines. This is a shame as from what we do learn of kellan and tenant and their showdown you can get the elements of thrills but then you get the betrayal of kellans sister and her proclamation of Kellen cheating.
It took me a while to connect to the story in the first few chapters, but once the action kicks in, it becomes difficult to put down. After finishing it I've been intrigued to read the others hat the author has to offer and will no doubt read 'again in the future to revisit this cleverly de used and intricate plot and deep character study immersed in magic and mayhem
