An Intriguing Romance with the backdrop of Berlin during WW2
The book's opening starts with a dedication to the author's Great Grandfather that reads:
"For my Great Grandfather Willi Waga, who was gassed in 1941 as part of the involuntary euthanasia program Aktion T4".
An opening that sets the scene for a novel deppicting life for two people who fall in love in Berlin during 1942. The opening chapter tells of Frierich's early, almost idyllic, life in Switzerland and the close relationship he had with his mother, an artist.
He meets a beautiful model upon moving to Berlin...but how does Friederich meet Kristin and how will they deal with the horrors of the Nazi regime as they tighten their hold on the city?
I'd love to read what will no doubt be a touching and, at times, hard to read novel that gives an insight into a very dark time in Germany's history.
