Even before you start reading this novel grabs your interest, the beautiful cover makes you linger on the couple, who are they and what has brought them out into the snow? The opening chapter continues to create this sense of intrigue, the stifling and slightly paranoid sense of the Nazi party rising to power and the impact of this on the dynamics of the family made me want to read on.
