I adore Berlin, it's one of my favourite cities to visit so this peaked my interest. That the book is due to be set there, albeit we don't make it to Berlin in this first impression, made me sure id want to read more. However it's reading about the character, Friedrich, that cemented the idea I want to read this book in full. The initial pages of this book give a good insight into the main character. He seems a lovely young boy who it seems is on his way to becoming a good man. On top of how the author has set up a character that I feel I can be invested in the blurb also indicates a true story aspect. Being set in a time that is always interesting to read about from a historical stance I am genuinely looking forward to reading this one
