I really loved 'Stella' and I think it is one of the pillars of literature about World War II. It honestly deserves so much more because the story was transfixing: I am so happy this book got translated into English because it is a such a sweet and heart-breaking story.
I love how well-written the characters are, how the situations are so brilliantly described and portrayed.
This book spoke of the horrors of WWII without being overwhelmingly sad, while still keeping the story accurate, real and down-to-earth. Nonetheless, "Stella" was still heart-breaking, and very real.
The book is quite short- it is more like a short story- but that does not mean the story does not stay with a person after they finished the book. It told so much in fewer pages than the other books did in series.
What makes "Stella" even more lovable and sad is that Stella was actually a real person and the events in the book are mostly real-life events, giving good history connections.
Absolutely loved it!
