The book cover, title and blurb often give me a good idea on whether a book is of a genre and theme that I would enjoy, and Such a quiet place ticked all of those boxes.

I started reading the first impression and felt immediately immersed in the story.
Who is Ruby? What has she been acquitted of? What's the story?

This seems a really interesting take on the crime genre, where the supposed guilty party is released and returns back to her community, who by the sounds of the first impression so far, think she did it.

The interplays and tension is apparent right from the opening pages, and whilst I worried initially about this being too gossipy or slanderous, both the murder mystery plot and the author's tone is putting my mind at rest.

I flew through this first impression, and would hope I'd equally enjoy the rest of the novel.
