I’m a huge fan of Megan Miranda’s books, I found one of her older books All the missing girls in a hotel library several years ago and from then on I have read all of her books. This more than lived up to my expectations and I very much recommend it!

Ruby returns to her former home after her release from prison, she had been found guilty of murdering her neighbours and was due to serve a 20 year sentence however she had been freed on a technicality after less than 2 years. She surprised everyone by her return, most of all Harper, her former housemate who certainly wasn’t expecting Ruby to walk back into her life – quite literally when she arrived at the door with her suitcase.

Her return certainly ruffled feathers and I really enjoyed the extracts of the neighbourhood community page! The community of Hollow’s Edge are such characters and their interaction with one another really amused me.

I didn’t know what Ruby was capable of, and I liked that I was kept in the dark – was she guilty, or innocent.. So many odd things started happening after Ruby’s return and this made me both tense and anxious.

I found this completely compelling, very gripping and quite creepy at times. I love a book which makes me feel unsettled; I had feelings of apprehension about what kind of a person Ruby would turn out to be. If I was Harper I would have had to sleep with one eye open!

I nearly stopped reading this after a few pages because I was enjoying it so much(!) I felt I should save it for a special occasion, like a holiday, so after checking that the author has another book out this summer I allowed myself to continue reading! I have been reading her books over a number of years and I can confidently say none of them will disappoint!
