Brillaint first impression, I do like historical fiction, especially ones that use history to base a fictional tale.

following the Physicians and surgeons at this Age when the healers arts were being rediscovered under the cloud and auspices of religion makes for an interesting topic.

Throwing in children's death's through suspected necromantic rituals and heresy.

Surgeon Nicholas appears to be just learning his arts when attending a lecture he disagrees with the coroner and notices some regularities with the dissection of the young victim.

A historical crime thriller by the looks of it, intriguing.

I'm not expert at this period of time but the vocabulary used by the author seems historically accurate and descriptive enough to give the story a sense of realism without confusing the reader.

The cover is a tad understated but still drew my eye and from what I've read here this could be a good 16th century thriller.

It casts a harsh look at the reality of the times combined with the superstitions and religious fervour and has real potential I think.
