Really enjoyed this. The historical novel is not my usual read but I do enjoy a crime and thriller which this book has an abundance of . It took a while to get into the plot but once I was quite a few chapters in I was desperate to finish. The author has researched the period 1590 's London well and it is full of details from this age which add to the ambience. The characters are interesting and different and their likeability enhance the book. The addition of medicine in the storyline also held my appeal. This has certainly given me a taster for historical novels and I am away to do an internet search on this author to see if he has anything else in the pipeline as this appears to be his debut novel .
