This is a first book by Michael Rutger, but he is actually an old hand at writing under two previous names he used, and it shows. Here he gets into new territory - this is a blockbuster big-screen adventure, but his talent and experience make it waaaay better, then any other debut, or even most novels in this sub-genre. Also, the author knows how to put the novel into modern cultural landscape by quoting and referring to things and events in real-life you can relate to, thus making the action seem more real.
There are thrills, there are adventures, there are likeable characters that you will care about and there is good writing. This is a book equivalent of a summer blockbuster with added artistic quolity - what more do you need?
