A group of amateur documentary makers, led by the completely unqualified Nolan Moore, set off for the Grand Canyon seeking a cave rumored to be hidden there. With little to go on other than a report written by the legendary (and very possibly fictional) explorer G.E.Kincaid, Nolan and the gang don’t expect to find much. However, in a stroke of luck, the group manage to find and access what is undoubtedly the cave mentioned in these ancient legends. But their luck soon turns, leaving them trapped inside with little food or water or hope of escape as things go from bad to worse. It seems they aren’t the only ones inside...

I absolutely could not put this book down; finishing it within 48 hours, which is pretty quick even for me. It’s difficult to give much of a plot description without revealing too much and this book is leagues better than its blurb would hint at.If you’re a fan of Dan Brown then its a safe bet you will enjoy the Anomaly, which is every bit as exciting but much lighter and less academic making for an easy read.
If you’re looking for something serious, which may even border upon a conspiracy theory, this is not that book. The plot jumps off the deep end about halfway through and is as probably as close to the truth as the X-files (or at least I hope so!). Rutger does an excellent job of building suspense, finishing almost every chapter on a cliffhanger without breaking the flow of the story and I was on the edge of my seat until the very end. This book had me exclaiming aloud multiple times and I was truly disappointed when it ended; it is without doubt one of the most enjoyable books I have read this year.

I hope there will be many more books to come from Rutger. This is definitely an author to follow.
