When Ursula Byrne and Rafael Banks are randomly matched with progressive and new age dating service "The Arc" they both cannot believe their luck.
They think the service has matched them with their "forever" person as they fall madly in love with each other.
Life seems a little TOO perfect, then when they go for a review at the Arc institute for an update on their relationship the expert tells them there may have been a glitch in their match.
Horrified the couple cannot believe it, surely after nearly $100,000 an expert in matchmaking couldn't get it wrong?
Or could they?
As they both begin to examine this seamless romance they begin to experience doubts about their love and the nature of their whole relationship.
How much of this is mumbo jumbo, a placebo or is there an element of truth and science to matching people with another?
This was a fascinating look at the modern dating world and how far people will go to find happiness but also how far companies will go to exploit their very real need for love and companionship.
This was NOT just your average rom com or chick lit style novel, to me it had moments of fun and frivolity but overall I think it had a very serious tone and dealt with thought provoking issues of how far we trust technology and experts even with something as delicate as our hearts and emotions.
At times a little futuristic and even disturbing of how modern concepts of dating and romance is now perceived this was a really fresh twist on the "boy meets girl" trope.
A great read.
