This book very much reminded me of watching "Dexter" back in the day. A serial killer is on the loose but a killer who is presenting their victims as "art" - suspended in formaldehyde in glass cabinets. The first three cabinets appear in central London, with the promise of more to come. This gives us the classic "race against time" element that a crime thriller needs.
Trying to track down the killer is DI Grace Archer, a cop's daughter with a troubled past - she was kidnapped by a serial killer as a 12 year old. Dad was killed and Grace is currently living with her Grandpa, who has dementia. She's got her current job having exposed the previous incumbent as a bent copper.
This gives an interesting dynamic between her juggling her job, family and distrust of colleagues. With the killer using apps and social media to find their victims it also provides a reminder to us all to be careful about our online presence.
I did guess who the killer was but this didn't detract from my enjoyment - I read the book over the course of a weekend. A decent debut and I would certainly read more from this author.
