This seems like a quite spooky and sinister novel, like the cover of the book - pretty atmospheric. Rose sounds like an interesting character - I liked that the characters have somewhat uncommon names (certainly in the UK in any case), such as Okoro. There's enough in the first few chapters to give the reader a clear idea that there are some important personal secrets which will be revealed and which will undoubtedly have a big impact but we're left in the dark as to what exactly they are. The chronology moves about in different chapters, so reconstructions, or flashbacks, form part of the prose but the chapter headings make it clear when the current text is set in, so its not too confusing.

As I read on, it became clear that ethics and morality plays quite a strong part in the legal case the plot is about. Terrorism is another relevant theme - all of which are quite important issues these days, obviously.

I'm intrigued to read more, to discover how the past and the present are connected and what secrets come to light. However, I read that its the 2nd in a series of books and I prefer to read series from the start, whenever possible, so I won't enter the prize draw but I imagine its a decent read.
