I read 'The Mayfly', Hazel's debut novel, last year; I was gripped throughout and felt for certain that Charlie Priest would return. If you like your crime fiction dark, and your protagonist dysfunctional, then Hazel's creation is for you. I'm a big Jo Nesbo fan, and I'd feel more than happy to invest as much time in Priest as I do with Harry Hole - espousing his murky discoveries to all and sundry. I can't wait for the publication of 'The Ash Doll'.
The cover seemingly offers a glimpse of the item at the centre of the story, much like a mayfly was crucial to the first novel. I'm sure that the doll will feature as some mysterious artefact, or clue to be unravelled. I love the symmetry in both of Hazel's covers.
