Although I found this quite difficult to read I did really enjoy it. I say this on the basis of it being written as they would speak in the 1500s, not that it was boring. I particularly enjoyed how certain situations and mini-tales are based on Shakespeare plays. Forbidden loves, false identities, pretending to be a man, forced marriages. At first I found the story to be quite confusing as it did jump between two different stories which later join up and it all begins to make sense. It all seems rather straight forward for the most part and I felt as if I could predict what was the happen next. Oh boy was I wrong. I am a big fan of plot twists, ones that keep on you on your toes because what you think is going to happen very rarely does. It keeps the reader engaged.
