I commenced reading this book with very high hopes. I thoroughly enjoyed the bitesized snapshot I got with the preview.
When it arrived I thought the cover was wonderful ans started from Chapter One to refresh my memory.
I am unsure when I felt that the story lost my attention. I thought the characters were well rounded and I enjoyed the way they were woven into the plot. The small town atmosphere was excellently created and brought back childhood memories of holidays spent on the coast of England. I could hear and smell the descriptions. The teenage angst was also dealt with in a sympathetic way. I think the reason I felt uncomfortable reading the book at times is because I dislike injustice. The fact that several of the characters were marginalised upset me. On the whole I think it was very well written with a good plot, but unfortunately for me that was its downfall. I think alot of other readers would not feel as I do and love it. I would read other books by this author because I think the writing style is good. Her descriptions are just a little too good for me in places!
