I finished this book in under a week (good going with two children under 10!)
The story is both heart breaking and heart warming. The detail of the struggle of refugees torn apart by war and the impact is has on them and their family really makes you question everything you think you know about immigration. I was touched by the loss they experienced and admired the unwavering strength it must of taken to make their perilous journey frought with danger. I don't usually read books like this one but I was so pleased I did. From start to finish i was eager to keep turning the pages, and was a little sad when i finished the last line. I would recommend to anyone who admires compassionate, interesting, heartfelt stories by an author who truly knows how to set the scene. I have already purchased another book by the same author to stick my teeth into next.
