This page turning saga has soo many elements of twist and tales and was purely emotional; heartache drama as it continued. After the death of their mother and father gone, Nessie is the one who has to hold the family together. This is hard as they are left with no money and have to find food and work. I like the character Nessie as she always tries to find a positive way to do things and is there for her family no matter what hardships ,they have faced and are currently facing with.
We then get to meet this horrible landlord who has it out for them and then the story turns into this idea of getting this prosperity in order to survive. As the book continues there’s a lot of secrets lies that break the family apart a bit but also strengthens their bond.
Overall this book is something I could read again despite the heartaches and sorrow I could empathises with the characters.
