What a strange book this is. At times it is engaging and pulls you in to the characters, and others it zones out and I don't know what is happening. Is it real, imagined or taken from elsewhere?

The chapters whizz between the two main characters and their entwined family and relationships. There are also multiple locations and time zones, it all gets fractured and is a challenge to keep sense and track of. In fact it's very difficult to make sense of in places which I think is deliberate, however I didn't find it thought-provoking, just puzzling. There are numerous quotes and musing in the vert short chapters, probably requiring a second read to get clarity. A number of the characters are given internal voices which adds to the cacophony.

An insight into the changing nature of family life over the generations. I'm glad I got the end of the book but I'll admit it was, at times, challenging.
