In this day and age I don’t think anybody doesn’t know somebody who has been affected by cancer, probably even somebody who has been affected by breast cancer. However, it is still such a taboo subject and let’s be honest we all genuinely think ‘it’ll never happen to me.’
Keira was called into a mammogram from a random sample of women and didn’t think anything of being called back, until she realised that she had been put in a ‘quiet room’ for a reason. In this sample she’s literally only told one person but she is already experiencing people treating her differently and not wanting to talk about it. I think any form of media which can help us remember how common this disease is and remind us of how our friends would likely want us to treat them if it happened to them is a must!
