I must admit there were times I wasn’t sure I’d finish this book. It is a fictional story but it’s based on the author’s own battle with breast cancer. It is a relatable book, as breast cancer, indeed any cancer, is so no discriminative, it will attack anyone. No one is exempt, one day your living life as normal and then, bang your world is turned inside out and upside down.
While sitting outside an oncology department, Keira happens to meet a lady called Tamsin. As Keira comes to terms with a cancer diagnosis her friendship with Tamsin grows and together with two other women, Sian and Amma, create the Cancer Ladies’ Running Club. Each woman’s life is very different from the others but they become best friends. The story is quite full of medical information and breast cancer treatment and at times, it’s difficult to read. However, the determination and bravery of the women is so uplifting.
Their is another story line where Keira at the same time as going through treatment has to fight for her business and battle her insecurities.
