I was intrigued by all those quotes from the reviews. I thought this must be my kind of book. A thriller, something that will shock me and will keep me awake at night wondering what happens next.

From the first 30 pages, I can tell you that was not the case.

The plot is centred around the idea that when a man is found guilty, they spend their sentence in the house of the house of their victim. Now, I don't know if this concept is explained further later in the book, but the idea sounds quite silly to me. I understand it solves the problem of overcrowded prisons, but to me it sounds like a punishment to the victim rather than to the culprit. This was shown perfectly by the house on the corner that is described at the end of the extract. A woman sued her rapist and now she had to welcome him in his house. Of course she moved out and left him inside while she lives in a tent.

It all sounds quite silly to me.

And I didn't see any thrill at all in this thriller. There was no hook, no suspense. Maybe it all changes later on, but the first 30 pages are rather dull.
