The blurb of this book had me so hyped, it read like nothing else. Female kidnappers are often unheard of, and putting that concept into fiction was something I was really looking forward too. I was even more hyped that this book was free on my library app. It seemed like everything was perfect. The perfect idea, a free read, what could possibly go wrong?

Well...sorry for any spoilers I may spring on you but she's not a kidnapper, no matter how the blurb tries to insinuate it.

This book takes place in a dystopian world? city? I don't even know, I didn't read enough to find out. But every crime means that the families of those affected must take the criminal into their home and have a sort of jail cell built, again inside their home, and look after the criminal. Which is nuts. Someone is murdered, and you're left to look after the criminal. How is that helping in any way? I guess it shows the criminal that the person they hurt had a family, but like...?

I don't know, I was really excited for this book and it was such a let down. I guess it's my fault for having high expectations but I can't help feeling like the blurb really insinuated something that really wasn't.
