Overall this was a sweet, fairly warm-hearted book with a multitude of positive messages that I hope would be useful to tweens and teens that may be reading it and thinking of running away from home.

Saffy was a bit of a brat. She was mean to her family, horrific to her step-mum, rude to Tom and some of the people she came across on the streets and very self-absorbed at times. However, she was a believable character and what person can’t be a bit of a self-obsessed brat at times. She did a lot of stupid things, but you could see why she did them especially after losing her Mum at a young age.

*Spoiler alert* It was great that her Step-Mum was such a wonderful character and proved that the adults in her life were not all incompetent. I also liked that you could tell how much people cared about her even if she didn’t realise it at the time.

Tom was an absolute babe. Such a sweet guy, who had so much on his plate. I only hope that Saffron did enough to deserve him.

I also loved the people she met on the streets, who showed how different people are and their different reasons for being there. It was a good reminder that homeless people are individuals like everyone else and we spend far too much of our time ignoring them or feeling threatened by them.

Definitely a worthwhile read.
