Although this is YA fiction and not necessarily my type of read, when I first saw this book I thought it looked bold and stood out, and once I found out more, I was excited to read it. I can say for sure that I’m glad it did stand out and does stand out on the shelf because ‘The colours that blind’ is a fantastic read, start to finish. From the very beginning I was gripped by the sense of family and individual struggle, I became emotionally invested in the characters’ story, and felt a connection to the times and place they inhabit; Thanks to the authors writing style that I saw someone perfectly describe as accessible, and as a result I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this read, and feel more knowledgable about the world around me after after having read this book. I would recommend it to other reads, and I will look for more books by this author in future.
