I genuinely really enjoyed reading this book. There were numerous interesting characters, some exciting plot lines, some interesting twists - some that were predictable and others less so. I felt like I consistently wanted to know what was going up happen next and was determined to keep reading.
I liked the setting - both the time in history, which naturally with talk of the aftermath of the French Revolution & also with Poldark hints led to an interesting backdrop. Cornwall itself is a good setting and somewhere that many people can relate to & have visited.
I felt it was well-written enough that I would definitely look out for the other books in the series to find out what happens next, and the backstory to some of the other characters from the earlier books in the series.
The cover looks like a typical historical fiction novel which will attract some readers but may put others off.
