I honestly don’t understand how anyone enjoyed this book. Granted I haven’t finished it (got about half way) but it was too painful for my poor eyes to keep going. First off to begin with the prologue: we get bit of background on a key event in the life of the main character however Jude who is portrayed to be some amazing strong willed warrior ends up with virtually no emotional trauma from a fae lord killing her parents and taking her away to the fantasy world. You’d think as being portrayed the way she is that this even would hold substantial value in her life and affect her future relationships as well as the way she views the world around her. But No Jude is literally so plain. Her actions don’t reflect her personality whatsoever and the relationships with the other characters are bland.

There was virtually no character development, the writing itself felt extremely juvenile, the fantasy world was poorly described and the storyline was a bit all over the place. Not to mention the inclusion of extremely irrelevant descriptions of things and events that added nothing to the story apart from boredom.

This book is supposed to be centred on romance and the relationship between the two characters was basically non existed. I hated it, they had no chemistry and she let him bully her. The strong willed warrior mind you, let a prince (who goes to school with her btw) bully her and her sister. As if that’s realistic at all. The romance aspect is terrible and extremely underdeveloped and not worth the read. I will never understand how anyone can sit through such bullshit and enjoy it.

Overall literally once of the most worst books I’ve read (or haven’t fully read I suppose) and the fact that the author is an award winning New York Times best seller is laughable.
