I think this started really really strong. I was in actual tears from start to finish of every chapter that was "This Time Last Year" talking about her time with Lennox.

That being said, it all kinda fizzled out quick in the end. It's like the author realised this had been going on for almost 400 pages and then just decided to wrap things up. There's quite a few loose ends that just kinda made this be like and.....that's it? It could have used an epilogue to tie things off.

I loved Ailsa's growth as a person; she never got to experience real, uninhibited youth and barely knew how to adult but I loved her aspirations in wanting to figure that all out for herself and by herself. She wasn't out searching for a saviour to make things easy for her. The love story was secondary to her growth which was lovely. She cared about how her actions would affect her mother, but she still made a point to show that this was important to her and she was finally capable of learning to adult.
