This sounds great and there's an interesting start to the story meeting a licensed mudlarker, Kim Weldon, who trawls the river bank of the Thames for ancient treasures. She finds a right hand lying on the shingle early one morning. The police divers later recover three other parts of a female body: tattered bone and flesh.

There's a positive DNA match for the body parts, identified as 28-year-old Paige Hargreaves, a freelance journalist. They head to her flat and learn that she'd been reported missing by her best friend eight days earlier. All building up to be an intriguing storyline.

There's another case that Derwent is put on – the cot death of a six-week-old baby girl, in suspicious circumstances, which sounds tragic.

I love a good police procedural and I've only recently discovered Jane Casey's books after reading Cruel Acts. DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent have a great rapport and a love/hate relationship and I look forward to reading more about them in this book.
