Having read and enjoyed all Sam Blake's books, I was really looking forward to the publication of this new novel. It was going to be difficult to cap her other books, but this one is my favourite. I don't know exactly what it was about this story, but it was different. It was so descriptive, the characters so alive, but the other books had this too. So what was it? That made this one, a book that I had to keep reading without much of a break , that kept me so enthralled? I think the prologue grabbed me first of all, but then the characters just came alive so quickly in the novel. I wanted to know more about them. And Sam Blake writes as though I am watching a movie and can see the characters, the scenery, the events play out in front of my eyes. I could feel the tension portrayed in the story, I could smell it. The way Sam Blake writes is as though you are inside her book. You can almost feel the fear, the tension. The storyline is completely compelling. I thought I had it all worked out and then, it changes, the story takes a complete shift and you can do nothing but read on, holding your breath until the climatic conclusion. What a story! What a writer. Huge applause to the author and this goes down as one of my most favourite reads.
