I really enjoyed the first few chapters of this book. The author grabs the reader from the start in a story set of intrigue based in New York around 1799.
I have not read any other works by this author - Paddy Hirsch, but I will definitely be looking out in the future for other stories and hopefully they will be as promising as "The Devil's Half Mile".
The main character of Justy is believable and the book is a real page turner. I can't wait to acquire the book and read how the story develops and some crucial questions answered.
I especially like that the story is set in the United States of America at the start of a new era in 1799 such as Wall Street and the racial tensions between immigrant Irish and the freed slaves.
