Emma was married to a diplomat, she moved in various circles and mixed with all different elements of society.
Eventually becoming a successful spy.
But despite this intriguing, fast paced life she still finds herself haunted by the death of her beloved brother, Hugh.
At a time in her life finding herself terminally ill she enlists the help of her grandson Phil to join her in a supposed tour of various places she visited throughout her chequered life.
But this isn't the true reason for this quest.
She is hell bent on a mission that could put her and Phil in mortal peril when dangerous people get involved.
Really loved the juxtapostion of the tale being set in both the late thirties and seventies.
This was a really fast paced story that should appeal equally to both wartime novel and spy thriller fans.
It was just an all round cracking good read.
