On the front of this book there is a quote which says “hugely enjoyable” and that is how I would describe this book. It is very readable and I loved picking it up. It is told in two different time frames Philip goes on an adventure with his gran and the story flits from 1939 to the present day which is 1979. Philips gran Emma was the wife of a diplomat and she leads a life of spying without her husbands consent. She meets lots of people some who she can trust and some who she suspects of spying. Now in 1979 she wants to find out who killed her beloved brother Hugh. She goes on an adventure with Philip to Paris ,Berlin and Spain to find out more. I did feel that there is a lot of coincidence in this novel, characters pop up just at the right time and out of nowhere. I found the character of Philip slightly unbelievable in parts, some of the things he does are not what an 18 year old would do.However it is a cracking read and I would recommend.
