This book is set in 1936 and 1979 so has dual timelines throughout the whole book. I think this can usually go either way but I loved it in this book - it really adds to the story.
I loved being a part of Phil’s relationship with his grandmother as he discovered the things that she went through when she was younger! As Emma tried to solve the mystery she secretly set out to solve I felt fully immersed and invested in the story and it’s outcome.
I’ve never read any of Michael Ridpaths work before but I will definitely be looking into more of it in the future. I absolutely loved the style of writing and found this to be an absolutely fascinating read.
This is definitely one of my favourite genres but I would also recommend this to people that don’t usually read this kind of book as I think it can truly suck anyone into it the storyline!
