The book is a bit surprising, the characters are easy to relate to but it seems a little one dimensional in their portrayal. However, that being said you do connect with the characters, possibly due to the war themes though and the empathy rather than their development. Occasionally the maintenance of realism in the book is neglected. there is a large jump in theme as well into an action style book which is nice to see after a bit of a slow paced start.

I did not realise it was a sequel until I began reading so my review is biased by the fact I have not read the first book but the love story and the way it blends with that of the war theme is very commendable and enjoyable to read. Parts of the book do need refining and it appears often that the plot is a bit tangled, lost or there is no drive to find more and explore the progression.
Overall though an easy, enjoyable read.
