Unfortunately I thought that this book was really disappointing and quite frankly underwhelming after everything I had heard about it. I also had quite high expectations going into it because of how much I had enjoyed The Familiars but this book just fell flat on all fronts for me.
I struggled the entire way through the book to connect with the characters and story which made it challenging to get into the book and want to keep reading, at several points I contemplated stopping reading it altogether. I did not particularly like any of the characters, I found them difficult to like and not very well developed.
I did like the concept of this book however I thought that it was poorly executed and underdeveloped, my main issue with this book and what seems to be a theme with this author is that everything felt rushed, especially the ending. This left things feeling unfinished and there being some plot holes that didn’t make sense.
To be honest I really didn’t see the point of the entire story, I found it incredibly predictable and very boring. It would have been much more interesting if there had been a plot twist thrown in there.
