Let's be honest, this is one of those books where you pretty much know what's going to happen just by looking at the cover. There aren't any great surprises here and it works to the standard "romantic saga" workbook.
That's not to criticise it though, this type of book has a legion of fans and it's easy to see why. It evokes a previous era, it has broadly sympathetic characters (even the "bad" girl turns good) and it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling that all is right with the world.
You know that there is going to be a happy ending all round and sometimes the contrived misunderstandings can feel a little repetitive. However it's a book that does exactly what it says on the cover and will undoubtedly be popular for that very reason.
